Trading Live With Bubba Ep. 326 — Know Your Exit Before You Ever Place The Trade

Two quick S&P scalps bookend a session that also adds credit spreads in Circle and GLD, with Bubba repeatedly stressing how thin holiday-week volume is choking off bigger opportunities.

Bubba opens by noting that volumes across the futures complex are running lighter than an actual holiday session, even though it isn’t one, and he spends much of the episode returning to that theme: without what he calls speed and velocity, the market simply doesn’t offer the kind of extended, three-standard-deviation setups his day-trading rules are built around. He walks through a long list of names, Apple, Amazon, Google, IWM, Meta, Microsoft, Netflix, and more, and finds almost all of them parked too close to their means to act on, repeating that he’d rather pass than force a trade just to have something to show for the session.

He does find two credit spreads worth placing. In Circle, a name he mentions the channel had only recently added to its regular watch list, he sells the 73/74 call spread for Friday expiration for a 40-cent credit. In GLD, he sells the 404/405 call spread for next-day expiration for 42 cents, both structured as modest, defined-risk bets that each name stays below the lower strike through expiration. He also flags Zoom as a name he’d genuinely consider, but ultimately passes, explaining that he’d rather stick to a couple of well-reasoned trades than stretch for a third just because it’s available.

The best action of the day comes from two separate S&P scalps late in the session. Bubba buys the first setup, quickly scales part of the position off for a profit, and moves his stop to breakeven on the rest before getting stopped out with a modest win, worth anywhere from twenty to two hundred dollars depending on contract size. Not long after, a second setup triggers in almost the same fashion, another quick in-and-out for a smaller profit. Both trades are useful demonstrations of his core process: enter on a real trigger, scale out systematically, and don’t overstay a trade just because the market is slow.

Throughout the episode, Bubba weaves in a handful of macro asides that don’t turn into trades but shape his thinking, including a note on Bitcoin’s key 65,000 level as something to watch for Coinbase’s own setup, and a reminder that he trades everything from equities to commodities and is happy to look at anything a viewer asks about. He’s also candid that some setups, like the Dow approaching a potential level, simply don’t get there, and rather than force the issue, he lets them go.

By the close, the session nets out to four total trades, the two S&P day trades plus the Circle and GLD credit spreads, a solid tally given how repeatedly he describes the tape as slow. He wraps with his usual invitation to his Monday evening webinar and a reminder of the daily Market 120 preview, while underscoring the episode’s real lesson: in a market with this little volume, getting in, getting out, and moving on is exactly the discipline that keeps small, grinding wins from turning into unnecessary losses.
